Job summary

Marva Group is seeking a Learning Disability Support Worker to assist young people with learning disabilities in their homes and local community. You will plan activities, support daily living skills and promote independence, dignity and confidence.

A patient, compassionate approach and PMVA experience are essential. We offer structured training, career progression, proactive management, and access to flexible rota options with four weeks in advance, plus 24/7 support to ensure you can deliver

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  • PMVA training and de-escalation skills are essential.
  • Experience promoting independent living skills and routines.
  • Proficiency with digital care notes and record keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, person-centred support in homes and community settings.
  • Plan and facilitate engaging activities to build independence and confidence.
  • Support daily living skills including meals, shopping and routines.
  • Apply PMVA techniques to safely manage behaviours.
  • Maintain accurate digital care notes, risk assessments and reports.

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this Learning Disability Support Worker role, you must have:

  • At least 12 months’ experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  • PMVA training.
  • Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.
  • Experience promoting independent living skills such as routines and nutrition.
  • Confidence using digital care planning systems for accurate record keeping.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK (Right to Work documentation required).
  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People or Adults).
Desirable Qualifications
  • First Aid training or equivalent.
About The Role
Your Responsibilities as a Community Support Worker

As a Support Worker specialising in learning disabilities and complex needs, your key duties will include:

  • Providing consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in their homes and local community.
  • Planning and facilitating engaging, structured activities to build independence and social confidence.
  • Supporting with daily living skills including meal planning, shopping, dietary needs and personal routines.
  • Applying PMVA techniques and de-escalation strategies to safely manage challenging behaviours.
  • Maintaining accurate and professional digital care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports.
  • Collaborating with families, carers, and multi-disciplinary teams (MDTs) to ensure positive outcomes.
Required Criteria
  • Confidence in using digital care planning systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a calm, resilient and professional attitude.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
Desired Criteria
  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Adults or Children).
  • Current First Aid training.
Salary

£14.50 - £16.00 per hour
