Job summary

Marva Group is seeking a dedicated Learning Disability Support Worker to assist young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in their homes and local community. You will provide person-centred support, promote independence, and help develop daily living skills and routines.

Successful applicants will have PMVA training, de-escalation skills, and a valid UK driving licence. You will work with families and MDTs to achieve positive outcomes and maintain detailed digital care notes.

Qualifications

  • At least 12 months' experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.
  • PMVA training and strong de-escalation skills.
  • Experience promoting independent living skills and routines.
  • Ability to use digital care planning systems for records.
  • Valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle.
  • Right to Work in the UK and NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities in homes and local community.
  • Plan and facilitate structured activities to promote independence and social confidence.
  • Support daily living skills including meals, shopping, and routines.
  • Use PMVA techniques to safely manage challenging behaviour.
  • Maintain accurate digital care notes, risk assessments and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with families, carers and multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes.

Essential Requirements

To be successful in this Learning Disability Support Worker role, you must have:

  • At least 12 months' experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour.

  • PMVA training.

  • Strong de-escalation and behaviour management skills.

  • Experience promoting independent living skills, including routines and nutrition.

  • Confidence using digital care planning systems to maintain accurate records.

  • A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK (Right to Work documentation required).

  • NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People or Adults).

Desirable Qualifications
  • First Aid training or equivalent.
About The Role
Your Responsibilities as a Community Support Worker

As a Community Support Worker specialising in learning disabilities and complex needs, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing consistent, person-centred support to young people with learning disabilities and complex needs in their homes and local community.

  • Planning and facilitating engaging, structured activities that promote independence and build social confidence.

  • Supporting with daily living skills, including meal planning, shopping, dietary needs, and personal routines.

  • Using PMVA techniques and de-escalation strategies to safely manage behaviours that may challenge.

  • Maintaining accurate digital care notes, risk assessments, and incident reports.

  • Working collaboratively with families, carers, and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs) to achieve positive outcomes.
