Job summary

Arbuthnot Latham is seeking a Learning & Development Business Partner to lead capability, leadership and career pathways across the Bank. Working with senior stakeholders, you will shape the future skills agenda and drive development initiatives in an evolving regulatory environment.

You will design engaging learning programmes, manage Early Careers and onboarding, measure impact and ensure learning remains effective and commercially aligned.

  • Oversee Early Careers programme and onboarding to support new colleagues from day one.
  • Design and deliver learning programmes using digital tools and external partnerships.

Guided by our values of Collaboration, Integrity, Respect, Empowerment, and Energy & Drive, we are seeking a Learning & Development Business Partner to lead the development of capability, leadership and career pathways across the Bank. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will influence the future skills agenda, drive meaningful development initiatives and help ensure our people are equipped to succeed in an evolving business and regulatory environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and deliver a strategic learning and development agenda aligned to business priorities, people objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with senior leaders to identify capability needs, address skills gaps and implement impactful development solutions.
  • Drive leadership development, talent management, succession planning and career progression initiatives across the organisation.
  • Lead and enhance the Bank's Early Careers programme and onboarding experience, ensuring colleagues are supported from day one.
  • Design and deliver engaging learning programmes, leveraging digital tools, AI and external partnerships to maximise impact.
  • Collaborate with Compliance and key stakeholders to ensure mandatory and regulatory learning remains effective, engaging and up to date.
  • Evaluate learning outcomes, using data and insights to measure effectiveness, demonstrate ROI and continuously improve learning initiatives.
  • Present learning strategies and programmes to senior stakeholders, influencing organisational capability and future workforce development.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Clear understanding of how to define and translate future capability requirements into practical learning and interventions.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and mandatory learning requirements and how to deliver these effectively and proportionately.
  • Sound understanding of talent management, succession planning and career development frameworks.
  • Awareness of current learning and development trends, with the judgement to apply what is appropriate for the organisation’s size, culture and context.
  • Demonstrable experience leading learning and development activity that is clearly aligned to business goals and organisational strategy.
  • Significant experience of personally designing and delivering training, workshops and facilitated team sessions with credibility and impact.
  • Significant experience working closely with senior leaders and functional heads to diagnose capability needs and deliver practical interventions.
  • Demonstrable experience designing or supporting career pathways, internal mobility or development frameworks that enable progression.
  • Demonstrable experience of identifying future skills and capability requirements and aligning development approaches accordingly.
  • Track record of managing L&D budgets, suppliers and external partners to ensure value for money.
  • Line management experience, with the ability to set direction, prioritise work and develop others.
  • Experience working within Financial Services would be an advantage.
