Job summary

South Thames Colleges Group is seeking a Learning Coach to support and mentor learners with social, emotional and mental health needs, a disability, learning difficulty or medical condition, and/or ESOL, English and Maths support needs, to enable them to complete qualifications and EHCP outcomes.

This is an entry into education, ideal for recent graduates aiming to become teachers. The role is 28 hours per week over 38 weeks a year, with pro-rata benefits and DBS checks for successful candidates.

Qualifications

• Experience not essential but beneficial with learners who have social, emotional and mental health needs.
• Ability to use initiative, organise and prioritise, and communicate well at all levels.
• Good administration and computer skills to record learner progress and set smart targets based on EHCP outcomes and coursework.
• Willingness to achieve GCSE/Level 2 English & Maths if not already held.

Responsibilities

• Support and mentor learners with SEN, EHCP or ESOL/English and Maths needs to enable qualification completion.
• Create a positive learning environment and track progress with clear targets.
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement education plans.
• Contribute to safeguarding and welfare of learners.
