Job summary

TES Global is seeking a Learner Support Tutor (Trainee Inclusion) in London with hybrid working. The role includes travel to partner schools and training venues, with a 0.8 FTE part-time contract and office-based days.

Job Title: Learner Support Tutor (Trainee Inclusion)

Location: London with travel to partner schools and training venues

Working Pattern: Hybrid, includes 3 days each week in the office

Contract Type: Part-time (0.8 FTE), Permanent

Salary: up to £36,000 (0.8 FTE)

Role Overview

Tes Institute is Tes's accredited teacher training and development organisation, dedicated to delivering high-quality initial teacher training, qualifications and professional development opportunities for educators.

As our Learner Support Tutor (Trainee Inclusion), you will lead and coordinate inclusive support for trainees throughout their teacher training journey. From recruitment and onboarding through to qualification and school placements, you'll ensure trainees receive the support, guidance and reasonable adjustments they need to thrive.

Working closely with recruitment colleagues, programme teams, partner schools, mentors and external professionals, you will champion inclusive practice, remove barriers to participation and help improve trainee experience, retention and success.

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment, Outreach & Pre-entry Support
  • Support inclusive recruitment and outreach activities, ensuring prospective trainees understand available support.
  • Advise applicants and colleagues on reasonable adjustments and inclusive recruitment processes.
  • Help identify trainee support needs during application, interview and pre-entry stages.
  • Work collaboratively with recruitment and programme teams to promote equitable access and participation.
  • Coordinate inclusive onboarding arrangements for new trainees.
  • Develop support plans and adjustment arrangements where required.
  • Build trusted relationships that encourage early disclosure of support needs.
  • Ensure trainees understand available support, processes and expectations from the outset.
On-course Support & Inclusive Practice
  • Deliver one-to-one and small-group support to trainees.
  • Monitor participation, wellbeing and progress where support needs have been identified.
  • Coordinate with tutors, mentors and programme staff to implement agreed adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate records and monitor support plans effectively.
  • Work with partner schools and mentors to ensure trainees receive appropriate support during placements.
  • Support school-based colleagues to understand agreed adjustments and inclusive approaches.
  • Visit placement settings where appropriate to review progress and address barriers to success.
  • Contribute to intervention planning and referral processes where concerns arise.
Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain oversight of inclusion caseloads and support activity across the trainee journey.
  • Analyse participation, feedback and outcomes data to identify themes and improvement opportunities.
  • Contribute to quality assurance activities and inclusive policy implementation.
  • Ensure support is delivered in line with safeguarding, equality, confidentiality and data protection requirements.
Training & Capacity Building
  • Provide guidance and advice to colleagues, mentors and partner schools on inclusive practice.
  • Develop resources and practical tools that strengthen inclusion across the partnership.
  • Promote a culture of belonging, early intervention and shared responsibility for trainee success.
What Will You Need to Succeed?
  • Experience supporting learners, trainees, children or adults within education, SEND, inclusion, pastoral or related environments.
  • Experience building supportive professional relationships and handling confidential information sensitively.
  • Experience coordinating support and working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience within schools, teacher training, higher education, further education or workplace-based learning environments.
  • Experience supporting learners undertaking placements or work-based training programmes.
  • Strong understanding of inclusive practice and barriers to participation.
  • Excellent communication, organisation and case management skills.
  • Ability to coordinate support plans and practical adjustments across multiple settings.
  • Confidence working collaboratively with trainees, schools and colleagues.
  • Ability to analyse information and contribute to service improvement initiatives.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and high expectations for all trainees.
  • Willingness to travel to partner schools and training venues where required.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Relevant qualification in education, inclusion, SEND, counselling, coaching or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification, QTS or equivalent.
