Job description

As a Learner Support Assistant, you will provide person-centred support and care to clients with disabilities, enabling them to benefit fully from the provision.

Job purpose

Support and promote the development of clients attending the ‘Skills Tank’ Provision, meeting social care and support needs for vulnerable adults with various conditions.

Assist the Hub Manager in delivering educational and learning activities through engaging and enjoyable methods, maintaining a high standard of professionalism.

• Provide concise and accurate feedback on each learner’s progress to focus assessments and guide learning.
• Monitor and respond to changes in individual behaviour, especially when activities are altered (e.g., swimming on a different day).
• Ensure awareness of fire regulations and safety policies, promoting health and safety throughout the Skills Tank.
• Participate in relevant training sessions as required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or Teaching Assistant Level 2 or 3.

Knowledge & Experience

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role.
• Experience working with adults with learning difficulties/disabilities, autism, and mental health issues.
• Experience managing challenging behaviour.
• Desirable: Knowledge of autism and mental health.
• Desirable: NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care for Adults.
• Willingness to undertake ongoing training and development.
