Job description

About Us

At Access Education Group, we are dedicated to empowering learners and providing outstanding educational support. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every learner can thrive. As part of our ongoing commitment to excellence, we are looking for a passionate, organised, and welcoming Learner Services Advisor to join our dynamic team in Bristol.

The Role

As a Learner Services Advisor, you will be the heart of our Bristol campus. A typical day will focus on running our vibrant college reception acting as the primary point of contact for learners, staff, visitors, and senior leadership.

In addition to front-of-house operations, you will provide vital support to learners throughout their educational journey, with a particular focus on high-needs funded learners and those with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). On occasion, you may also provide Learning Support Assistant (LSA) cover as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Reception & Front-of-House Operations

  • Welcome & Hospitality: Meet and greet visitors, National Centre Management, Board members, and the CEO. Oversee visitor, staff, and student sign-in sheets.
  • Access & Security: Open and close reception daily. Issue lanyards, staff IDs, visitor badges, temporary student IDs, and bike/car park passes.
  • Communication & Admin: Handle telephone and in-person queries, manage internal admin systems, handle incoming deliveries, and organize outgoing post/stamps.
  • Ad-hoc Services: Process petty cash transactions, order taxis for staff and students, and safely shred sensitive documentation in compliance with data protection.

Learner Support & Guidance

  • Enquiries & Onboarding: Provide clear advice on course info, enrolment, and progression. Assist with induction processes to help learners settle in smoothly.
  • Absence Management: Actively follow up on student absences through timely phone calls and emails.
  • Specialist Support: Deliver tailored guidance appropriate to individual needs, particularly for learners with EHCPs. Signpost learners to specialized services (counselling, financial advice, careers guidance).
  • Record Keeping & Compliance: Maintain precise learner records, update databases, and support regulatory and funding body compliance.
What We Are Looking For

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Background in front-of-house reception, admin, learner support, or student services (preferably within the education sector).
  • Experience or familiarity with supporting high-needs learners or EHCP processes is highly desirable.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Core Skills: Strong administrative, phone, email, and general office management skills.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficient in MS Office, email systems, and internal learner/admin management databases.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build immediate rapport.
  • Organization: Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively in a busy campus environment.
  • Personal Qualities: Empathy, patience, discretion, and a genuine passion for helping every learner reach their full potential.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with safeguarding, educational policies, and data protection (GDPR) is preferred.
Why Join Access Education Group?
  • Make a meaningful impact on young people's lives every day.
  • Work in a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive campus culture.
  • Gain diverse experience spanning student services, reception management, and learning support.
