Job summary

Octane Recruitment is recruiting for an Assistant Workshop Manager at the Sharrow Vale Centre in Sheffield. The role blends front-of-house responsibility with hands-on technical leadership, ensuring safety, productivity and high-quality workmanship.

You will supervise a team of technicians, perform diagnostics, lead quality checks and support workload planning, while enabling career progression and maintaining excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Qualified vehicle technician with diagnostic and repair experience.
• Supervisory or senior technician experience preferred (workshop/fast-fit/dealership).
• EV / high-voltage systems and ADAS experience.
• Continuous improvement mindset in workshop setting.
• Valid UK driving licence - Essential.

Responsibilities

• Own productivity and quality, optimising bay use and labour efficiency to deliver right-first-time work.
• Carry out repairs, services and diagnostics as part of the team.
• Maintain and drive KPIs for productivity, ramp utilisation and output.
• Lead quality checks, final inspections and drive improvements in standards.
• Coach and develop technicians and support career progression.
• Step up to lead centre operations in the Centre Manager’s absence.
• Ensure safety, data integrity and audits with Area Compliance.
