Job summary

Newcastle City Council is seeking a passionate chef/cook to join our Welfare Catering team. You will work 37 hours per week across three sites, delivering nutritious, high-quality meals for elderly residents with specialist dietary needs.

You will lead a small team, uphold food safety and service standards, develop menus, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure a welcoming catering service across our sites.

Qualifications

• Has a Level 2 in Food Processing and Cooking (or equivalent).
• Positive and motivated nature.
• Experience of supervision or leadership of a team.
• Can deliver high standards of meal production and service.
• Demonstrates good relationships with stakeholders.
• Self-motivated and able to work to fixed deadlines.
• Excellent time management.
• High standards of customer service.
• Develop and introduce new ideas for menus and foodservice.
• Strong interpersonal skills, positive and solution-focused.
• Experience in a catering environment.
• Sociable and caring personality with ability to build relationships.
