Job summary

Unknown is seeking a Lead Software Engineer (Vue.js) to steer frontend development within a global software business focused on risk, compliance, and performance. The role balances hands-on coding (60–70%) with people leadership and architectural ownership.

You will influence frontend architecture, review AI-generated code, and collaborate with Product and backend teams to deliver robust, scalable software. This is a UK-based permanent position with competitive salary.

Qualifications

• Strong Vue.js experience with JavaScript/HTML/CSS proficiency.
• Experience building and maintaining complex web apps.
• Ability to make frontend architectural decisions and explain reasoning.
• Experience leading and coaching developers.
• Knowledge of frontend testing, performance, and maintainable components.
• Interest in AI-assisted engineering and critical assessment of AI outputs.
• Strong communication across technical and product teams.
• People management experience or readiness to lead a small team.

Responsibilities

• Lead frontend development using Vue.js.
• Shape frontend architecture, component design and coding standards.
• Review code and AI outputs for quality and performance.
• Clarify requirements with Product and create implementation specs.
• Collaborate with Java backend engineers on integration decisions.
• Improve automated testing, CI/CD and development tooling.
• Own squad delivery, resolve blockers and raise risks early.
• Mentor engineers through regular one-to-ones and development planning.
