Overview

Our client is seeking experienced Lead User Researchers to lead high-impact research initiatives and contribute to the design of inclusive, user-centred services. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong track record in user research and a passion for mentoring others and driving organisational improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise on complex challenges through research, human-centred design, and Agile methods
• Lead major research programmes, ensuring outputs deliver significant value to stakeholders
• Guide multidisciplinary teams in designing services that meet diverse user needs
• Promote inclusive research practices within teams and the broader user research community
• Oversee research quality and best practices, supporting other researchers in delivery and operations
• Develop strong client and stakeholder relationships, manage sensitive discussions, and advocate for research insights
• Line manage and mentor user researchers, and contribute to internal initiatives and continuous improvement activities

Candidate Profile

• Demonstrated success in advocating for user-centred design and influencing stakeholders
• Extensive experience applying user research methodologies in varied and complex environments
• Proven ability to plan and lead research across multiple projects and teams
• Strong knowledge of accessibility and safeguarding considerations in research
• Effective communicator with experience presenting research to diverse audiences
• Skilled at mentoring, managing teams, and fostering community of practice development
• Familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) Standards and Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) assessments
• Experience contributing to client proposals and commercial discussions
• Understanding of business strategy and contract formulation

This role is based in London, but applicants across the UK are welcome. The position offers flexibility, including potential on-site client work or remote arrangements. Relocation support up to £8,000 is available.
