Job summary

Stantec seeks a Principal Urban Drainage Modeller to lead hydraulic modelling across UK water programmes and deliver high-quality wastewater and urban drainage solutions. You will mentor colleagues, review modelling work and provide technical direction while engaging with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

You will work in a flexible hybrid environment, leading projects from Cardiff and other UK locations, developing innovative approaches and contributing to bids and frameworks.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/IEng) or working towards.
• Significant experience delivering urban drainage, wastewater or hydraulic modelling projects.
• Strong knowledge of InfoWorks ICM and hydraulic modelling of wastewater networks.
• Proven experience providing technical leadership and delivering high-quality projects.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to interpret complex modelling outputs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience mentoring modellers and contributing to team capability.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery of urban drainage and wastewater modelling studies across UK water programmes.
• Develop, verify, calibrate and analyse hydraulic models using InfoWorks ICM and GIS tools.
• Lead modelling assessments covering wastewater networks, storm overflows, flooding, water quality and resilience.
• Review modelling approaches and outputs, providing technical assurance and guidance.
• Interpret modelling results and provide practical recommendations for clients.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, environmental specialists, digital teams and clients to deliver sustainable solutions.
• Support project planning, programming and delivery, including managing tasks, resources and deadlines.
• Mentor less experienced modellers and share best practice.
• Contribute to bids, frameworks and technical improvements.
