Job summary

Circle Group seeks a Lead Unreal Engine Developer in Glasgow, hybrid role with potential relocation. You will shape real-time visualisation, lead Unreal Engine delivery, and steer technical direction for VR, digital twins, and immersive experiences.

You will mentor teams, set standards, guide estimation and delivery, and drive innovation across design, development and project teams. Portfolio required for consideration.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in 3D visualisation.
  • Advanced Unreal Engine development experience (UE5 preferred).
  • Strong understanding of Unreal architecture and C++ knowledge.
  • Experience building scalable frameworks and reusable systems.
  • Experience delivering VR, immersive visualisation and related projects.

Responsibilities

  • Define the technical strategy, standards and best practices for real-time visualisation.
  • Lead Unreal Engine development across interactive, immersive and digital twin projects.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership on complex projects.
  • Develop team capability through mentoring and leadership.
  • Drive innovation and adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Support project scoping, estimation, planning and business development.
  • Ensure quality, performance and consistency across projects and regions.
  • Lead resource planning, capability development and technical governance.
  • Support recruitment, training and succession planning.
  • Contribute to technology and investment strategies.

Lead Unreal Engine Developer
Glasgow (Hybrid) - other locations may be considered
£60-75k DOE + Benefits

We're looking for a lead Unreal Engine developer to shape and lead our client's real-time visualisation capability, combining strong Unreal Engine expertise with strategic technical leadership.

You’ll set the technical direction for interactive visualisation, digital twins, VR and immersive experiences, while driving innovation, scalable delivery and team development.

You’ll work across design, development and project teams, providing hands‑on technical leadership and helping grow the organisation’s real‑time capabilities.

Key Skills:
  • Proven experience of 3D visualisation
  • Advanced Blueprint and Unreal Engine development experience (UE5 preffered)
  • Strong understanding of Unreal architecture and working knowledge of C++.
  • Experience building scalable frameworks and reusable systems.
  • Strong knowledge of optimisation, debugging and performance.
  • Experience delivering VR, immersive and interactive visualisation.
  • Experience leading technical teams and developing capability.
  • Knowledge of digital twins and data-driven visualisation.
  • Strong communication, mentoring and stakeholder management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and experience supporting project estimation and business development.
  • A passion for emerging technologies and innovation.
  • AR, MR, WebXR or standalone VR experience (desirable)
  • Experience integrating BIM, GIS, Cesium, IoT or operational data (desirable)
