Job summary

The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust is seeking an experienced Consultant Sonographer (Band 8B) to lead and advance the Ultrasound service across Trust sites. You will provide expert clinical practice across multiple ultrasound modalities, and lead governance, audit, and workforce development.

This senior role includes shaping service development, mentorship, and teaching, with involvement in research delivery and protocol development to align with national guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Ultrasound service across Trust sites
• Provide high-level clinical leadership and governance for ultrasound practice
• Oversee recruitment, performance management and competency assessment of sonographers
• Lead ultrasound research, audit activity and disseminate findings
• Develop and implement guidelines and care pathways in line with national recommendations
• Deliver specialist teaching and mentorship to learners
