Job summary

AECOM in the UK Nottingham area is seeking a Lead UAV Pilot to plan, coordinate and execute UAV survey operations across diverse projects. You will provide technical leadership for drone-based data capture and ensure the delivery of high-quality spatial datasets to support engineering and environmental applications.

In this role you will oversee UAV flight operations, survey planning, data processing and digital delivery, while mentoring teams and promoting best practices within the geospatial

Qualifications

• Experience in UAV operations for surveying and spatial data capture.
• UK CAA Remote Pilot Competency (GVC or equivalent).
• Experience planning and delivering drone-based surveys in varied environments.
• Understanding of photogrammetry outputs, point clouds and related deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of UAV survey operations across project types and environments.
• Undertake pre-deployment planning, including site requirements and survey objectives.
• Conduct UAV flights to capture high-resolution spatial data per project specs.
• Provide technical leadership and promote best practices in UAV operations and data quality.
• Follow UK processing workflows and QA/QC procedures; ensure compliance with standards.
