Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Senior Transport Planning professional in Ipswich to lead a team and influence major development proposals. You will assess highway implications, work with authorities and developers, and secure infrastructure improvements to support Suffolk's transport goals.

The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to deliver innovative transport solutions while ensuring compliance with highway regulations and safeguarding practices.

Qualifications

• Must promote high standards of sustainable transport in new developments
• Knowledge of highway design and construction and Highway Act provisions
• Experience interpreting complex transport assessments for developers and consultants
• Ability to represent team at internal/external meetings and provide expert advice
• DBS Check and Police Vetting may be required for some posts
• Supporting statement and CV required; documents in PDF/MS Word format

Responsibilities

• Respond to major planning proposals and assess transport and highway implications
• Collaborate with developers, local planning authorities, consultants and colleagues
• Secure infrastructure improvements to mitigate development impacts
• Enhance accessibility and support Suffolk’s transport ambitions
• Contribute to town-wide transport plans
• Identify innovative solutions to local transport challenges
• Lead and develop a team of Transport Planning Engineers and Technicians
• Negotiate outcomes and provide expert advice on complex transport matters
• Provide comments to local planning authorities on highway suitability of new developments
• Support delivery of transport infrastructure, active travel initiatives and secured funding
