Job summary

Strata Construction Consulting UK Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Transport Planner to support our Surrey office in transport planning, highway design, flood risk and drainage input at all stages of development.

You will lead Transport Assessments, travel planning and modelling, liaise with authorities and design teams, and mentor junior staff while ensuring quality and safety standards are met. Hybrid working and ongoing professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years relevant Transport Planning experience and degree in a related field.
• Understanding of the UK planning process is essential.
• Further education or Master’s in a transport planning/engineering discipline would be beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and supporting notes.
• Undertake transport modelling, forecasting, and data analysis.
• Interpret policy and apply it to development proposals.
• Lead stakeholder engagement with local authorities and design teams.
• Mentor junior staff and ensure health, safety and QA compliance.

Job description

We are looking to an experienced Transport Planner to support our clients Surrey office in their services that include transport planning, highway design, flood risk and drainage input at all stages of the development process; from feasibility, through the planning application process and then to detailed design.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Transport Planner to work across all sectors, including residential, retail, leisure, office, distribution and industrial projects, education and healthcare, and mixed-use schemes.

The role

• Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and supporting technical notes.
• Undertake and oversee transport modelling, forecasting, and data analysis using industry-standard tools.
• Interpret national, regional, and local transport policy and apply it effectively to development proposals.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, including liaison with local authorities, statutory bodies and design teams.
• Mentor and technically review the work of junior staff, providing guidance and professional development support.
• Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality assurance, and company procedures.

What you need to succeed

• Minimum 4 years relevant Transport Planning experience & degree in Transport Planning, Geography, Civil Engineering or Mathematics etc.
• An understanding/experience of the UK planning process.
• Further education or Master s degree in a transport planning/engineering related discipline would be beneficial.
• Computer literate with advanced use of Microsoft Office.
• Good levels of numeracy, including a good understanding of spreadsheets.
• Understanding of the use of AutoCAD.
• Understanding of GIS software.
