Job summary

High Speed Two Ltd. is seeking a Lead Traffic Management System Engineer to define how the railway will be controlled and operated. The role sits in the Chief Engineer's Group, within the Command, Control & Signalling Engineering team, reporting to the Head of CCS.

Based in London or Birmingham with hybrid working (3 days in the office). You will shape the concepts for an integrated TMS that manages 10–12 trains per hour, coordinating with Network Rail and other systems to deliver safety,

Qualifications

• Significant experience with rail Traffic Management Systems or closely related control systems.
• Strong understanding of railway operations and real-time traffic management.
• Experience developing requirements and concepts for complex railway systems.
• Demonstrated systems integration experience across railway interfaces.
• Ability to act as a technical SME while keeping a whole-system perspective.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and assurance for the TMS engineering discipline.
• Engage with stakeholders to ensure holistic TMS design.
• Develop requirements, specifications and standards for railway capability.
• Coordinate interfaces between TMS and CCS, rail systems and Network Rail.
• Challenge and refine proposed technical solutions with suppliers and teams.
• Translate operational requirements into practical system functionality.
• Manage work packages and suppliers related to TMS.
