Position Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Lead Track Design Engineer to join our track design team.
The ideal candidate shall possess a strong background in railway track design, construction and maintenance along with exceptional leadership skills.
Hybrid - Must be willing to travel internationally, including flights, hotel and expenses paid.
Contract - 2 years
Responsibilities
- 1. Overseeing and managing all aspects of the railway track design, ensuring their successful planning, construction, inspection, T&C, completion, and delivery.
- 2. Lead and manage railway track scope from design, construction, inception to T&C and completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- 3. Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and monitor progress throughout the project lifecycle.
- 4. Coordinate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and external contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
- 5. Track Design Engineering, Assurance and Integration
- - Provide expertise in the design of railway track alignments, layouts, and components to meet safety, operational, and regulatory requirements.
- - Conduct detailed engineering analysis and calculations related to track design, including alignments, grades, curves, and clearances.
- - Develop, review and approve design documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- 6. Maintenance and Inspection
- - Develop and implement comprehensive railway track maintenance programs, including regular inspections, maintenance schedules, and upgrades.
- - Analyse inspection data and assess track conditions to identify areas requiring maintenance or repair.
- - Recommend maintenance strategies and corrective actions to ensure safe and efficient track operations.
- 7. Quality Assurance
- - Implement quality control processes to ensure that all track construction and maintenance activities adhere to established standards and regulations.
- - Conduct thorough reviews of track construction materials, methods, and workmanship to maintain quality and integrity.
- - Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical leadership to junior engineers and team members.
- - Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment that encourages knowledge sharing and professional development.
- 9. Regulatory Compliance:
- - Stay up-to-date with industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices related to railway track engineering.
- - Ensure all track projects and activities are compliant with relevant safety regulations and standards.
- - Identify potential risks and challenges associated with track projects and develop mitigation strategies.
- - Address any unforeseen issues that arise during project execution and make timely decisions to minimize disruptions.
Qualifications
- 1. Bachelors or masters degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- 2. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3. Extensive experience (typically minimum of 15 years) in railway track engineering, design, construction, T&C, delivery and maintenance.
- 4. Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering complex railway track projects.
- 5. Strong knowledge of railway track standards, regulations, and safety protocols.
- 6. Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools for track design and analysis.
- 7. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- 8. Problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make sound decisions under pressure.
- 9. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
