Job summary

JobsTrackR is seeking a Lead Test Engineer to ensure our products meet the highest standards of functionality, reliability and requirement compliance before release and during manufacture.

You will define and drive testing strategies, manage testing operations and oversee all preparations for qualification testing, collaborating with product development, manufacturing, PM and engineering to deliver robust test solutions that meet customer expectations and design intent.

Qualifications

• Experience planning and executing tests to verify product requirements.
• Ability to design test cases and lead defect tracking and resolution.
• Knowledge of qualification and production testing processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the test function, define test strategies and specifications, execute tests, and track defects.
• Develop standard processes for qualification and production testing, including defect tracking and resolution.
• Identify effort and resources needed to execute test strategies.
• Coordinate with product managers, customers and SME engineers to translate requirements into test scenarios.
• Oversee test programme execution, report progress and manage issues and risks with the Project team.
• Oversee testing types: qualification, environmental, system integration, EMC, shock/vibration and production/function.
• Liaise with 3rd party test houses regarding capability and defect reporting.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, customer requirements and company safety & quality standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product releases and post-release support.
• Continuously improve testing processes and methodologies to enhance product quality and team productivity.

Lead Test Engineer

£55,000 - £60,000 Per annum

Full time, Permanent

This role for the Lead Test Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all new and existing products meet the highest standards of functionality, reliability and requirement compliance before release and when in manufacture.

As the Lead Test Engineer you will define and drive testing strategies, manage testing operations, and oversee all preparations for qualification testing.

You will work closely with product development, manufacturing, project management and engineering peers to deliver testing solutions that align with customer expectations, design intent and support key business objectives.

Key responsibilities for the Lead Test Engineer:

• Lead and manage the test function to ensure efficient definition of test strategies & specifications, execution of test cases, defect tracking and resolution.
• Develop the organisations standard processes and practice regarding qualification and production testing, including defect tracking and resolution.
• Identify effort and resources required to execute the test strategies.
• Coordinate with product managers, customers and SME engineers to understand product requirements and translate them into effective test scenarios.
• Lead the test programme execution, report on progress and manage issues and risks with the Project team.
• Oversee various testing types, including qualification performance, environmental, system integration, EMC, shock/ vibration and production/ function.
• Liaise with 3rd party test houses regarding capability, test execution, defect reporting and resolution.
• Ensure compliance with industry regulations, customer requirements and company safety & quality standards throughout the testing lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product releases and post-release support.

Previous experience for the Lead Test Engineer:

• Proficiency in test planning, test case design, execution, and reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• A background in the testing of communications and networking equipment is required. Experience of testing in a military domain is advantageous.
• A thorough understanding of system testing methodologies and tools.
• Strong leadership and experience of leading multi-faceted Test and Acceptance projects.
• Experience of working directly with customers to accept system requirements.
• Strong communicator with the ability to work with multiple teams internal and external and effectively balance / prioritise work around programme milestones.
