Job summary

LiveWest in the South West is seeking a proactive Lead Technician to lead and support a team of Multi Skilled Technicians and Roofers, delivering installation, repairs, maintenance and refurbishment services to our customers.

This mobile role covers the Redruth area; candidates should be within a 30 minute drive of the patch and hold a full UK driving licence, with a strong focus on Health and Safety, quality control and collaborative teamwork.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or qualification in a core trade and/or qualified by experience.
• Health and safety training (CITB SSSTS, IOSH or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Health and Safety: Promote health, safety, and welfare within the team and ensure policy compliance.
• Team Leadership: Act as the primary contact for the team in the absence of the Property Delivery Team Manager, providing technical advice.
• Customer Service: Resolve customer complaints and maintain strong relationships with customers and partners.
• Quality Control: Conduct inspections to ensure high-quality standards by internal and contracting partners.
• Fleet Management: Inspect and audit MSTs' and Roofers' vehicles for safe and correct usage.

Job description

As a Lead Technician, you will play a crucial role in leading and supporting a team of Multi Skilled Technicians (MSTs) or Roofers, ensuring they deliver effective and efficient installation, repairs, maintenance, and refurbishment services.

This role is a mobile role, working predominantly in the Redruth area. You will ideally be based within a 30 minute commute of this patch.

Key Responsibilities

• Health and Safety: Support the Property Delivery Team Manager in promoting health, safety, and welfare within the team, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
• Team Leadership: Act as the primary point of contact for the team in the absence of the Property Delivery Team Manager, providing technical advice and support.
• Customer Service: Assist in resolving customer complaints, maintaining good relationships with customers, external partners, contractors, and internal colleagues.
• Quality Control: Conduct pre, ongoing, and post-work inspections to ensure high-quality standards are met by both the internal maintenance team and contracting partners.
• Fleet Management: Inspect and audit MST’s/Roofers' vehicles to ensure they are maintained and used correctly and safely.
• Business Support: Assist operational colleagues in resolving difficult problems and support cross-team working to build an ethos of “one team, one purpose.”

This role is being offered on a full/part time permanent/fixed term basis working 40 hours per week.

Skills

• Technical Expertise: Proven experience in providing technical advice and support to a remote mobile working team in construction and maintenance operations.
• Communication Skills: Ability to build relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of quality housing/construction maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment.
• Health and Safety Awareness: Knowledge of health and safety legislation and requirements in construction and maintenance activities.
• IT Skills: Proficient in the use and application of mobile technology.
• Driving Licence: A full, valid UK driving licence is essential.

Qualifications Required

• Apprenticeship or qualification in a core trade and/or qualified by experience
• Health and safety training (CITB SSSTS, IOSH or equivalent).

This role is not eligible for a Cos. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK for the full duration of the role without a CoS.
