Lead Technical Safety Engineer – London

We are currently looking to speak with experienced Technical Safety Engineers interested in taking on a Principal-level role based in London. This is a permanent position with a competitive salary and bonus structure.

Our client is a market-leading advisory company delivering high-quality technical and strategic services to the global energy sector. With a focus on innovation and energy transition, they support projects across traditional oil & gas, hydrogen, CCS, and wider decarbonisation programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and execute a variety of Technical Safety, Risk and Loss Prevention, and RAM studies

• Facilitate formal safety workshops including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL and LOPA

• Carry out and deliver QRA, FERA, EERA, and other risk-based analyses

• Contribute to risk-based design and ALARP justification processes

• Provide Loss Prevention engineering expertise: Active/Passive Fire Protection, Blast Protection, F&G Systems, Hazardous Area Classification, and associated design deliverables

• Advise on UK regulatory requirements including Safety Case and COMAH development

• Support multidisciplinary teams with a creative, problem-solving mindset in a collaborative project environment

Qualifications and Experience:

• Engineering Degree (Chemical or related discipline); Master’s preferred

• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, preferably within consultancy or operator roles in upstream/downstream oil & gas

• Proven leadership in safety engineering and technical integrity for major projects

• Recognised certifications such as Functional Safety and HAZOP Leader (preferred)

• Deep knowledge of relevant UK and international standards and safety legislation

• Proficiency in scenario-based risk analysis, SECE identification, barrier management, and performance standards development

• Familiarity with digital tools and approaches for safety and risk studies

• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills
