Job summary

Appvia is seeking a Lead Technical Architect to provide technical leadership on a secure government engagement, focusing on Cisco SD‑WAN and enterprise networking. You will translate complex requirements into practical network solutions, mentor other architects, and present designs to governance boards.

The role requires active UK Security Clearance (SC) and exposure to Design Authority governance. A hybrid working model is planned with early engagement in a high‑security environment.

Qualifications

• Senior technical architect with Cisco networking fundamentals and a track record leading complex architectures.
• Active UK SC clearance is required.
• Experience with Design Authority governance and Security Board presentations.
• Experience coordinating with cross‑government teams and third‑party suppliers.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience delivering secure, reliable, and scalable systems.
• Experience producing and reviewing architecture documentation and Secure by Design principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical architecture decisions across complex customer environments, championing innovation and best practice.
• Define and maintain enterprise-wide technical strategies, roadmaps, and architectures.
• Oversee design reviews, incorporating Secure by Design principles and governance compliance.
• Coordinate with cross‑government teams and third‑party suppliers for cohesive solutions.
• Support development of presentation packs for Technical Design Authority and Security Board, deputising as needed.
• Drive digital innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and Continuous improvement.
• Mentor and coach other architects to foster collaboration and excellence.
• Facilitate design and delivery of complex systems with performance, reliability, and security in mind.
• Lead multiple projects with stakeholders on risks, budgets, and timelines.
• Incorporate lessons learned into future strategies across routing, connectivity, segmentation, and security.
