Job summary

Appvia is seeking a Lead Technical Architect to guide a major Cisco SD-WAN and network transition for a UK public sector engagement. The role requires active UK SC clearance, governance leadership, and the ability to translate complex requirements into practical, secure network solutions.

You will mentor other architects, shape technical strategy, and present to Design Authority and Security Board governance. Hybrid UK-based work with enterprise networking focus across multiple domains.

Qualifications

• CCNP or equivalent knowledge of networking concepts, switching, routing, firewalling
• Cisco SD-WAN experience with BGP and related network technologies
• Experience leading complex architectures and presenting to governance bodies
• Demonstrated leadership mentoring other architects and working across government/projects

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture decisions across complex customer environments, driving best practice
• Support enterprise-wide technical strategies, roadmaps, and architectures
• Oversee design reviews ensuring Secure by Design and governance compliance
• Coordinate with cross-government teams and third-party suppliers for cohesive solutions
• Prepare technical designs and presentation packs for Design Authority and Security Board governance
• Mentor other architects and foster a culture of technical excellence
• Deliver secure, reliable, and scalable systems within time and budget
• Collaborate with network engineers, platform engineers, security teams, and customer architects
