LEAD TECHNICAL ARCHITECT

• £100,000+ plus full package and hybrid working

ABOUT THE ROLE

An established and growing technical consultancy is expanding its Central Government business and is seeking an experienced Lead Technical Architect. This role will involve designing, implementing, and assuring the delivery of secure, large-scale cloud- systems, ensuring alignment with business, technical, and compliance objectives.

THE LEAD TECHNICAL ARCHITECT ROLE

As Lead Technical Architect, you will take ownership of cloud architecture design, security strategy, and infrastructure delivery across major government projects. You will define scalable cloud- architectures, advise client stakeholders, and ensure technical solutions meet strategic, operational, and governance requirements. This role combines strong technical leadership with client-facing consultancy, including building cloud roadmaps and security frameworks.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

• Proven experience designing and delivering large-scale, distributed cloud systems on AWS
• Expertise in cloud security architecture, AWS best practices (IAM, encryption, network security)
• Strong background in containerisation and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes
• Deep experience with event-driven architectures and messaging systems (Kafka)
• Skilled in microservices design, with hands-on experience using Java-based backend services
• Strong leadership, communication, and technical mentorship capabilities
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and cost optimisation strategies in cloud environments
• Familiarity with serverless architectures and AWS Lambda
• Understanding of architectural frameworks and standards (e.g., TOGAF)
• AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, Security Specialty)
