Job summary

Manchester Communication Primary Academy is looking for an experienced teaching assistant to lead the nest in our inclusion base. You will manage the room, deliver sessions and help develop provision under the guidance of our Inclusion Base Lead Teacher.

We welcome applicants with experience in the early years or specialist settings, who see behaviour as a form of communication and can support pupils with autism and language development. Start date is as soon as Safer Recruitment allows.

Job description

We are looking to recruit an experienced teaching assistant to be a lead TA with day -to-day

responsibility for ‘the nest’. The nest is one of the rooms in our inclusion base. We operate an

informal room, a semi formal room and one which sits between the two. The nest is our least formal

set up, where pupils are working on the engagement model to develop their foundational

knowledge and communication skills. Most of the children in the nest have a diagnosis of autism and

are developing their early language skills.

In this role, you will be a consistent figure in the nest, managing the room, delivering sessions and

developing the provision, under the guidance of our inclusion base lead teacher.

We are looking for colleagues who will be able to support our children to achieve their best, by

nurturing them. You’ll have great ideas about the environment, provision and sessions, and will work

closely with the teacher to plan and deliver them.

You will need to see behaviour as a form of communication, and understand that for some of the

children you are working with, it is an indicator of more support being needed. Where children have

barriers to verbal communication, they will communicate in other ways.

We are particularly interested to hear from colleagues with experience in the early years, and/or

specialist settings.
