Job summary

Great Hollands Primary School is seeking a compassionate and resilient Teaching Assistant to join The Nest, our internal provision for pupils with high needs. The role supports learning and wellbeing, working with SEND staff and families to help children access education in a nurturing environment.

Based primarily at The Nest, you may assist across other phases as required. A Level 3 qualification (desirable) and IDEAL experience with SEND are preferred.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 qualification or above (desirable).
• Experience of supporting children with SEND.
• Understanding of inclusive practice and adaptive teaching approaches.
• Knowledge of strategies to support behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning.
• Good organisational skills and flexibility.
• A good standard of literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to develop positive, caring and professional relationships with children and families.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting children's wellbeing.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with a range of SEND and learning barriers.
• Deliver targeted interventions and learning activities with individual pupils or small groups.
• Adapt activities to meet each pupil's needs and promote independence.
• Encourage engagement, self-regulation and positive attitudes to learning.
• Support wellbeing, emotional regulation and behavioural strategies.
• Prepare resources and maintain an organised, stimulating environment.
• Work with teachers, SEND staff and families to monitor progress and implement plans.
