Job summary

Cambridge Aerospace is seeking an experienced Systems Safety Engineer to lead safety engineering across aerospace and defence systems, with a strong emphasis on safety case ownership and certification support. You will identify hazards early, assess risks, and develop the evidence required to demonstrate safe operation and regulatory compliance throughout the lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Experience in systems safety within aerospace, defence or other safety-critical sectors.
  • Practical safety case development and hazard analysis experience.
  • Understanding of certification, airworthiness, or broader assurance expectations.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and influence technical decisions with evidence.
  • Degree in engineering or science, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own system safety cases with robust engineering evidence.
  • Plan and conduct hazard identification, FHA, FTA, and risk assessment.
  • Collaborate with design teams to capture safety requirements and mitigations.
  • Support certification by generating safety artefacts and evidence.
  • Participate in design reviews and verification to manage safety implications.
  • Contribute to defining safety processes and best practices.
  • Engage with customers, regulators, and stakeholders on safety issues.
