Job summary

Capgemini is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to lead the design and substantiation of RC, steel and civil infrastructure for major regulated projects in the UK. You will guide multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with codes and governance, and drive robust design substantiation under safety-critical conditions.

The role emphasizes collaboration with clients, regulators, and internal teams, with a focus on delivering safe, sustainable, and constructible solutions in line with CDM 2015

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified Civil or Structural Engineer with CEng or equivalent.
• Extensive experience leading structural projects in infrastructure, energy or regulated environments.
• Expertise in RC, steel and civil structures under complex loading conditions.
• Understanding of design substantiation and safety assurance processes.
• Proven leadership managing multidisciplinary teams and stakeholder engagement.
• Knowledge of American codes and standards desirable.
• Nuclear industry experience on new build projects advantageous.
• Open to sector moves with transferable regulated industry experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design and substantiation of RC, steel, and civil infrastructure.
• Provide technical leadership to structural engineers and project teams.
• Coordinate design activities with civil, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical, process, construction, and safety disciplines.
• Ensure designs meet codes, standards, regulatory requirements and governance processes.
• Lead structural assessments for normal, construction, environmental and extreme loading incl. seismic.
• Author, review and approve technical reports, design substantiations and regulatory submissions.
• Support engagement with clients, regulators and independent reviewers, resolving queries.
• Promote safe, sustainable, and constructible design per CDM 2015.
