Job summary

Leicestershire County Council's Specialist Teaching Service is recruiting Specialist Teachers of Communication and Autism to support children and young people with SEND aged 5 to 19. The role involves assessment, consultation and training to build inclusive practice across schools and post-16 settings.

You will work with families, school leaders, SENCos and multi‑agency partners to identify needs, contribute to EHCPs and annual reviews, and promote evidence-informed approaches within the Experts

Qualifications

Degree and QTS; evidence of professional development in autism or communication.
Substantial experience with school-age children/adolescents with autism or communication needs.
Knowledge of effective assessment, teaching strategies, and resources to support progress and inclusion.
Experience delivering training and professional development to educational settings and partners.

Responsibilities

Support children aged 5–19 with communication and interaction needs through assessment, advice, consultation and training.
Contribute to EHCP assessments, annual reviews, and maintain accurate records.
Collaborate with school leaders, families and multi‑agency professionals to improve inclusive provision.
