Job summary

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trusts invites applications for a Specialist Clinical Pharmacist in the Emergency Department. The post supports a busy, major trauma ED with strong pharmacy involvement and MDT collaboration.

You will review patients on admission, provide expert prescribing input and help develop medicines optimisation within the department. The role includes mentoring junior staff, contributing to education and training, and working within a progressive MDT.

Qualifications

• Provide an advanced level of clinical pharmacy service to the Emergency Department.
• Lead and mentor junior pharmacists and Medicines Management Technicians in the EAC Directorate.
• Involvement in education and training of various healthcare professionals including undergraduate students and trainee nurses.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical input to the Emergency Department and support optimal prescribing.
• Lead and develop the pharmacy service for the ED alongside other Specialist Pharmacists.
• Line manage junior pharmacists and MTs; participate in on‑call rota for ED cover.
• Support education and training of diploma, pre‑registration pharmacists and other staff.
• Contribute to service development and MDT collaboration to deliver patient‑facing care.
