Job summary

Compass Group UK&I ESS, RAF Honington, is seeking a hands-on Sous Chef to lead our catering operation. The role focuses on serving Service Personnel, delivering high-quality meals, and guiding a dedicated kitchen team in a fast-paced environment.

You will be responsible for daily feeding and function activities, leading and developing the team, and maintaining high food hygiene and safety standards. The position is based at RAF Honington, with 37 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef in a busy kitchen.
• Hands-on leader who can work alongside the team.
• Strong organisational and communication skills; able to manage a small team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver high-quality, nutritious meals for Service Personnel.
• Lead from the front in a hands-on Sous Chef role.
• Manage daily feeding and function activities.
• Support, motivate, and develop a team.
• Ensure excellent food presentation, consistency and service standards.
• Manage food ordering, stock control and minimise waste.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety.
• Manage budgets and ensure financial targets are met.
• Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Health & Safety regulations.
