Job summary

Hackajob Ltd is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to join the Atlas On Premise and Next Generation Infrastructure team, focusing on private cloud solutions and multi-hypervisor support. You will work in a small, fast-paced, globally distributed agile team spanning the UK, Ireland and the US.

You will contribute to scalable, secure cloud services, drive innovation, AI tooling, and continuous improvement while upholding diversity and inclusion within the team.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience.
• Hands-on experience with enterprise AI-assisted development tools and ability to evaluate outputs for correctness, performance and security.
• Understanding responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
• Proficiency in Java or GoLang.
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large, complex environment.
• Strong Agile, CI/CD, resilience, and security practices.

Responsibilities

• Execute software solutions across design, development and troubleshooting, building innovative solutions in a complex environment.
• Create secure, high-quality production code supporting private cloud infrastructure.
• Produce architecture and design artifacts for complex applications across the SDLC.
• Drive adoption of enterprise AI-assisted engineering practices to improve quality and delivery speed.
• Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the UK, Ireland and the US to deliver scalable, secure private cloud services.

Salary: £100,000 - 100,000 per year

Requirements

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment, with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations
• Proficiency in coding in Java, GoLang, or equivalent modern programming languages
• Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large, complex environment
• Solid understanding of agile methodologies, including continuous integration and continuous delivery, application resiliency, and security
• Demonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline such as cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile
• Experience with DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering principles
• Familiarity with VMware, OpenShift, Hyper-V, and bare metal platforms
• Experience with public cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Passion for innovation, AI, and continuous improvement practices
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a small, high-paced, globally distributed team environment

• Drive adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes, while establishing consistent validation standards and promoting reuse of effective patterns across the team
• Apply knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the UK, Ireland, and the US to deliver scalable, resilient, and secure private cloud services
• Contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies
