Job summary

JPMorganChase in the United Kingdom seeks a Vice President, Lead Software Engineer to architect and scale data-intensive platforms. You will own the design of high-throughput, low-latency applications, mentor engineers, and drive platform engineering best practices across cloud-native and streaming workloads.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to deliver secure APIs and services, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Proven track record delivering production systems in software engineering.
• Expertise in Java with concurrency and memory management.
• Advanced Spark and Databricks experience, including optimization and Delta Lake patterns.
• Hands-on Kubernetes deployment and service-to-service networking.
• Proficiency with AWS services: IAM, VPC, EC2/EKS, S3, Lambda, Step Functions, CloudWatch.
• Experience with CI/CD, IaC, and containerization.
• Strong data engineering fundamentals: partitioning, schema evolution, data quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and end-to-end delivery of high-throughput, low-latency applications and data pipelines.
• Design resilient, observable microservices and data processing frameworks.
• Build scalable Spark jobs on Databricks and optimize performance.
• Define CI/CD, IaC, and automated testing practices for platform engineering.
• Drive Kubernetes runtime standards and SRE guardrails.
• Collaborate with product, data, and platform teams to translate requirements into secure APIs and datasets.
• Mentor engineers through code/design reviews and set technical direction.
• Champion cloud architecture on AWS (networking, compute, storage, security, cost).
• Instrument systems with observability and develop runbooks and on-call readiness.
• Ensure data governance, security standards, and regulatory compliance.
