The Opportunity

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to lead a combined UK and India-based development team to ensure that the fundamental dev practices are being carried out to the highest level to ensure quality of delivery and adherence to committed timescales. We have recently secured an exciting project with a new client and have demanding roadmaps for investment in the growth of our platform to serve more clients all over Europe and possibly beyond!

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  1. Reporting into the Business Unit Director, you will be responsible for the delivery and leadership of a first-class Software Engineering capability within the Retail & Hospitality sector, and a peer of the heads of product, service, and programme management.
  2. Delivering Line Management responsibility of a large and growing delivery team.
  3. Ensuring deliveries are consistent with Agile processes where possible.
  4. Ensuring all team members are effectively trained with the skills required to perform their roles both now, and as part of a career development plan.
  5. Working closely with the Retail & Hospitality Product Manager and PPM function to support the planning and capacity management of the team to ensure effective delivery of releases to required timescales, cost, and quality for all planned deliveries. This will include regular resource forecasting.
  6. Working closely with the CTO Group to ensure any defined solutions align with the technical strategy.
  7. Create, implement, and maintain a plan to address any variations in resource utilisation within the team.
  8. Ensure the team has the right processes, technologies, and support to deliver their planned work effectively regardless of international boundaries and time zone constraints.
  9. You will have the chance to travel to West Midlands and other UK destinations in order to ensure the proper coordination of the projects.

Who Are We Looking For

We look for big thinkers. People who can drive positive change, step up and show what’s next – people with passion, a can-do attitude, and a hunger to learn and grow. In practice, this means:

  3. You are effective in client engagement and stakeholder management throughout.
  4. Previous Delivery Management experience across a multi-skilled software delivery team, ideally in an Agile environment.
  5. Excellent client-facing and internal presentation skills, including working with senior stakeholders.
  6. Pragmatic, still highly organized and structured.
  7. Result-oriented with a hands-on mentality, with a commitment to continuous improvement and self-development.
  8. You can demonstrate effective resource utilisation and timely delivery of projects within the agreed cost budgets.

Perks & Benefits

At Worldline, you’ll get the chance to be at the heart of the global payments technology industry and shape how the world pays and gets paid. On top of that, you will also:
