Recann, Manchester-based, seeks a Lead Software Engineer to own and shape a cloud platform with hands-on coding in C#/.NET within a highly flexible hybrid setup. The role focuses on technical direction, collaboration with product teams, and delivering robust integrations on Azure and REST APIs.

The ideal candidate will bring strong C#/.NET experience, solid SQL Server knowledge, and a track record of driving engineering standards while remaining hands-on and closely aligned with stakeholders.

Lead Software Engineer | C# / .NET / Azure

Up to £85,000 + benefits

Manchester City Centre | Highly flexible hybrid working

Recann is recruiting a Lead Software Engineer for an established international organisation that is continuing to invest in its internal technology capability.

This is a hands-on role with real technical ownership.

You will become a key internal engineer for a business-critical cloud platform and help shape how it is developed, improved and supported.

The role is highly flexible and output-focused. The expectation is typically around 2 days in the Manchester office, but this is centred around collaboration with colleagues rather than fixed office attendance.

What you'll be doing

• Building and improving applications using C# and .NET
• Taking ownership of technical direction and engineering decisions
• Working across Azure, APIs, integrations and SQL Server
• Improving code quality, automated testing, deployment and maintainability
• Reviewing and coordinating development delivered by external technology partners
• Helping shape engineering standards and future development capability
• Working closely with Product and other business stakeholders

Core technology

The main environment includes:

• C# / .NET
• REST APIs and integrations
• SQL Server
• TypeScript / modern frontend technologies

The wider environment includes Azure Functions, React/Angular, OAuth/OpenID Connect, webhooks and OData.

You do not need experience with every technology listed.

What we're looking for

You should have:

• Strong commercial experience with C# and .NET
• Good experience with Azure, APIs and integrations
• Strong SQL / relational database knowledge
• Experience contributing to technical design, code reviews or engineering standards
• The confidence to take technical ownership and work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Previous experience as a Lead Engineer is useful, but not essential.

We would also be interested in speaking with strong Senior .NET Engineers, Principal Engineers or Technical Leads who are ready for broader technical responsibility.

Experience within professional services, SaaS, finance, healthcare or another complex environment would be useful, but sector experience is not required.
