Oscar is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in Manchester City Centre with hybrid flexibility. The role combines hands‑on coding with technical leadership to shape architecture and mentor a small engineering team. You will work across frontend and backend, driving best practices and building scalable digital products.

You’ll contribute with TypeScript, React and Next.js, and collaborate closely with product, design and delivery to deliver high‑quality solutions in a modern web stack.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience building modern web apps with TS/React/Next.js.
• Hands-on leadership, mentoring, and code reviews.
• Experience with Node.js or C#/.NET and cloud platforms.

The Role

We're partnering with an established digital technology business looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join their growing engineering team.

This is a hands‑on leadership role where you'll continue writing production code while providing technical direction and mentoring a small team of engineers. You'll play a key role in shaping architecture, reviewing code, solving complex technical challenges and driving engineering best practices across modern web platforms.

Working closely with product, design and delivery teams, you'll help build scalable, high‑quality digital products while remaining actively involved in day‑to‑day development.

About You

You'll be an experienced Senior or Lead Software Engineer with strong commercial experience building modern web applications using TypeScript, React and Next.js.

You'll enjoy remaining hands‑on whilst leading technical discussions, mentoring engineers and helping shape scalable software solutions. Experience across backend technologies such as Node.js or C#/.NET, cloud platforms and modern software delivery practices would be highly beneficial.
