Job summary

Vanquis is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive secure, scalable Salesforce, MuleSoft and integration solutions. You will blend hands-on engineering with technical leadership to design and build durable, reusable patterns and guide complex changes into production.

You will influence engineering quality and platform governance while mentoring teams and shaping the future of Vanquis’ technology landscape.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on software engineering in enterprise-scale environments.
• Experience delivering Salesforce, MuleSoft or enterprise integration solutions.
• Ability to create secure, scalable, resilient software.
• Knowledge of APIs, integration patterns, automated testing and CI/CD.
• Experience diagnosing complex issues and supporting production services.
• Ability to review designs and provide constructive guidance.
• Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
• Comfort communicating technical trade-offs to mixed audiences.

Lead Software Engineer

Lead the engineering of secure, scalable platforms and integrations powering the next chapter of Vanquis We have invested significantly in modernising our technology landscape and strengthening our engineering capabilities. As a Lead Software Engineer, you will combine hands-on engineering with technical leadership. You will design and build secure, reliable and supportable solutions, help establish reusable engineering patterns and guide complex changes successfully into production.

You will influence how we engineer, not just what we deliver.

• MuleSoft: Mule 4, Anypoint Studio or Code Builder, DataWeave, connectors and reusable flows
• APIs and Integration: REST, SOAP, event-driven patterns and API-led integration
• Engineering and DevOps: Git, branching strategies, pull requests, CI/CD and automated quality controls
• Operational Engineering: Monitoring, logging, alerting, performance tuning and controlled releases

Essential experience

• Strong hands-on software engineering experience in complex, enterprise-scale environments.
• Experience delivering Salesforce, MuleSoft or enterprise integration solutions.
• Experience creating secure, scalable, resilient and maintainable software.
• Knowledge of APIs, integration patterns, automated testing and CI/CD.
• Experience diagnosing complex technical issues and supporting production services.
• The ability to review technical designs and engineering work, providing clear and constructive guidance.
• Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers or helping teams strengthen their capability.
• Confidence communicating technical choices, risks and trade-offs to different audiences.

Useful, but not essential

• Experience in financial services or another regulated environment.
• Knowledge of UK GDPR, secure data handling and controlled change practices.
• Experience with Financial Services Cloud, Salesforce Shield, Event Monitoring, Data Cloud, Agentforce or Einstein.
• Experience with Anypoint Exchange, API Manager or CloudHub.
• A relevant Salesforce or MuleSoft certification.
• Experience within fintech, consumer lending, cards or retail banking technology
