Job summary

St Catherine's Hospice in Preston is seeking a Lead Social Worker to provide professional, clinical and operational leadership across social work, counselling, bereavement and remembrance services. You will carry a specialist caseload while guiding a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, person-centred end-of-life care.

The role requires a qualified Social Worker with current registration, substantial post-registration experience, and strong safeguarding and workflow leadership

Qualifications

• Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
• Significant post-registration experience.
• Experience of safeguarding adults, mental capacity and end-of-life care.
• Experience of managing complex caseloads and leading others.
• Ability to communicate complex and sensitive information clearly and compassionately.
• Hospice or specialist palliative care experience would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Lead Social Work, Counselling, Bereavement and Remembrance Services.
• Manage a specialist caseload and support people with complex psychosocial needs.
• Provide expert safeguarding, mental capacity and risk-management advice.
• Coordinate care with the multidisciplinary team; supervise and develop staff, students and volunteers.
• Oversee referral, triage, allocation and review processes; monitor demand and outcomes.
• Lead service improvement, audit and quality assurance; deliver education and reflective learning.
