Job summary

Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Small Craft Surveyor (Naval Architect) in Milford Haven to survey and inspect small and non-convention vessels, ensuring compliance with UK and international standards. You will issue certifications, advise owners and colleagues, and support consistent, high-quality survey services across MCA.

Role involves mentoring Marine Surveyor teams, leading surveys in most cases, and maintaining up-to-date competence records.

Qualifications

• Experience with MCA Survey and Inspection activities and guidance.
• Ability to mentor colleagues to ensure consistent implementation of MCA standards.
• Knowledge of UK and international safety and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide training to Marine Surveyor colleagues on MCA Survey and Inspection activities.
• Lead surveys and issue statutory certificates for small/non-convention vessels when not in the most complex cases.
• Inspect small/non-convention vessels and port installations to ensure compliance with conventions and UK requirements.
• Advise industry and the public in line with MCA policies and contribute to a high-quality survey service.
• Maintain training and competence records and participate in peer reviews and monitoring.
