Job summary

VolkerStevin, part of VolkerWessels UK, is seeking an experienced Site Agent to lead major National Grid transmission and substation projects across the UK. You will own safety, delivery and commercial performance on a major section of works, coordinating engineering, construction, supply chain and quality teams on site.

To succeed, you will have a Civil Engineering degree or equivalent, substantial site leadership experience on large infrastructure or energy schemes, and a strong grasp of NEC

Qualifications

• A degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Significant experience as a Site Agent, Agent or senior delivery professional on major infrastructure or energy projects.
• Experience working within live 275kV or 400kV substation environments.
• Knowledge of National Grid safety rules and assurance frameworks.
• Professional membership with ICE, CIOB or APM.
• Temporary Works Coordinator and/or Appointed Person competence.
• IOSH or NEBOSH health and safety qualifications
• Strong understanding of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and change management processes.
• SMSTS and an appropriate CSCS/EUSR management card.
• Excellent planning, programme management and leadership skills.
• The ability to manage multiple stakeholders and build strong working relationships.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery of a major section of works, multiple work packages or a principal construction operation within a substation environment.
• Provide visible leadership on site, coordinating engineering, construction, supply chain and quality teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme and to the highest standards.
• Contribute to delivering critical energy infrastructure projects supporting the UK's energy transition.
