Job summary

Graham Hart Process Technology Ltd. in Bradford is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead our mechanical design function, delivering bespoke shell and tube heat exchanger projects from concept through to manufacture for global customers.

Reporting to the Technical Director, you will mentor engineers, ensure design integrity, apply relevant codes (ASME VIII, PD 5500, EN 13445, PED, TEMA), and collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain to optimise performance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in design and manufacture of shell and tube heat exchangers and pressure vessels.
• Strong working knowledge of design codes and standards: ASME VIII Div 1 & 2, PD 5500, EN 13445, PED, TEMA.
• Experience leading engineering teams and managing design activities.
• Understanding of pressure equipment design, materials selection and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work across engineering, production and commercial functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the detailed design of bespoke shell and tube heat exchangers.
• Produce and review engineering drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Perform and validate engineering calculations using PV Elite.
• Provide technical input from enquiry stage through to manufacture and delivery.
• Review engineering outputs including drawings, calculations and documentation.
• Work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, customers and inspection bodies.
• Support continuous improvement in engineering methods, tools and processes.
• Mentor and support junior engineers within the team.
• Contribute to maintaining engineering standards and technical excellence.
