Job summary

Carbometrics, a Bristol-based chemistry company, is seeking a Lead Data and Signal Processing Engineer to lead development of the pipeline converting raw optical sensor measurements into reliable analytical results. The role focuses on algorithms, not full product software, with hands-on technical leadership and future team-building potential.

You will develop and test filtering, calibration, and bias compensation methods across sensors and conditions, and work with scientists to implement

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years' industrial experience in signal processing or quantitative analysis of sensor data
• Expert Python programmer; C/C++ or LabVIEW/R advantageous
• Strong problem solving and independent work in ambiguous technical problems
• Good data visualization and clear communication of results to scientists and engineers

Responsibilities

• Architect and develop a robust pipeline converting raw sensor measurements into reliable analytical outputs
• Develop and evaluate filtering and noise-removal methods to separate signal from noise
• Develop calibration, linearisation and conversion of sensor measurements into analyte concentrations
• Implement change-point detection and artefact handling for reliable data interpretation
• Establish reproducible data processing and algorithm development practices across the team
• Lead data analysis initiatives and contribute to experimental design
