Job summary

Amey is seeking a Lead Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Consulting Built Environment team. You will lead Building Services design, conduct condition surveys and feasibility studies, and provide technical oversight of sub‑consultants on multi‑discipline projects across the UK.

With hybrid working options and offices including Birmingham, Telford, Manchester, Stafford, Sheffield and Bristol, you will manage client relationships, drive design quality, and contribute to bids while developing

Qualifications

• Experience leading design teams on building services projects.
• Proven ability to manage client requirements and deliverables.
• Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and risk management.
• Experience reviewing designs to ensure quality and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical design across multi-disciplinary projects in Rail, Transportation, MoJ, MoD, and Education sectors.
• Oversee design checks, calculations, drawings, and documentation with cost and schedule awareness.
• Manage client and supplier relationships at senior level and lead bids.
• Provide mentorship to junior staff and supervise a technical team.
