Job summary

DTC, a Codan Company, is seeking a Principal RF Design Engineer to lead RF system and board-level design in Hampshire. You will own RF designs across the product lifecycle from concept to production and in‑service support, collaborating with hardware, software, and systems teams.

You will develop high‑performance wireless solutions, require strong RF design skills, and hold eligibility for UK Security Check. This role offers exposure to advanced technologies in a global engineering environment.

Qualifications

• A degree in Electronics Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Strong RF design and analysis capability at board and system level.
• Solid understanding of RF principles: impedance matching, noise, linearity, gain, stability, filtering, signal integrity.
• Experience taking RF hardware from concept to test, validation and production.
• Experience designing RF circuits: transmitters, receivers, amplifiers, mixers, oscillators, filters.
• Proficiency with RF simulation tools such as AWR, PADS, or equivalents.
• Hands-on RF lab experience with analysers, spectrum analysers, signal generators and meters.
• Ability to interpret requirements and resolve complex technical problems.
• Clear communication and cross-disciplinary collaboration.
• Eligibility to obtain UK Security Check clearance.
• Experience with SDR or advanced wireless systems.
• Familiarity with EMC requirements and PCB layout for RF.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop RF systems and board-level hardware for advanced wireless products.
• Create RF architectures for transmitters, receivers, PAs, LNAs, mixers, filters and SDR systems.
• Translate requirements into practical RF designs and hardware schematics.
• Produce schematics, support PCB layout, and perform RF simulations and analyses.
• Select RF components based on performance, availability, cost and manufacturability.
• Develop test plans and verify designs with RF lab equipment.
• Support prototype bring-up, integration, validation and qualification.
• Analyze RF performance and resolve design issues with practical solutions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless RF integration.
• Support manufacturing including design transfer and production testing.
• Contribute to design reviews, documentation, risk management and best practices.
• Provide lifecycle support for products.
