ABOUT ZENOBE

Our goal is to make clean power accessible, to accelerate the shift to zero carbon power and transport.

We’re building and operating the world’s most sophisticated battery systems to enable the uptake of more renewable power and accelerating fleet electrification, de-risking the transition to zero-emission transport at scale. We’ve been consistently innovative since we were founded in 2017, achieving major industry firsts and using proprietary software and data analysis to optimise operational performance for our customers. At the end of their life, we repurpose electric vehicle batteries to provide clean power at depots, on construction sites and film sets.

Today we have 730 MW of grid scale battery storage operational and under construction and are the largest owner and operator of EV buses in the UK, Australia and New Zealand, supporting over 1,000 electric vehicles worldwide. In our first five years we have raised nearly £1.8 billion in funding and have expanded into other markets such as the US. Our rapidly growing company is looking for highly talented and motivated people to join us.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently hiring for a role to lead the commercial management of our operational portfolio and support ongoing analysis of projects to drive future returns for the business. The role will be specifically supporting our Network Infrastructure business division and responsible for overall PnL of the business, ensuring the delivery of strong trading performance of RtM partners as well as contracting accretive revenue opportunities. The person will be the go-to market expert on BESS services and optimisation within the business and support other functions with commercial acumen and market insight.

A TASTE OF THE DAY TO DAY

  • Delivering strong revenue performance of the portfolio
    • Work in partnership with Route to Market providers to optimise the trading strategy of our portfolio across multiple markets:
      • Response services
      • Reserve services
      • Trading Markets (DA, Intraday, Cashout)
      • Balancing Mechanism
    • Developing in-house market insight (trends, strategies) in conjunction with the Commercial Analytics Team
    • Reporting portfolio performance to senior management
    • Pushing the boundaries to develop commercial strategies to unlock constraint management for batteries
  • Managing our relationship with the System Operator, to drive commercial best interests and deliver new services
  • Engaging with internal functions such as Asset Management, Product & Business Development, Policy to align products & services with commercial strategy
  • Collaborating as SME to feed into policy & consultation responses

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Excellent understanding of the GB Energy and Battery Storage Market
  • 7+ years experience in the energy industry
  • Trading/Engineering background with experience of delivering PnL targets
  • Comfortable managing external partner relationships to deliver commercial goals
  • Comfortable interpreting and reviewing market service terms and contracts for optimal commercial outcomes
  • Driven, organised, autonomous, and curious to explore new ideas
  • Strong ability to perform in a cross-functional environment to deliver unified commercial goals
