We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Lead Relationships Practitioner to join a nurturing and forward-thinking school in Thetford. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of pupils’ social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and Manage Interventions: Oversee and coordinate the delivery of interventions across the school to support pupil well-being and SEMH development.
  • Support the Relationships Policy: Work with the Relationships and Culture Lead to implement the school’s Relationships Policy, including responding to pupil dysregulation, maintaining zones profiles, and conducting restorative conversations.
  • Collaborate with the Pastoral Team: Regularly monitor and review relationships and behaviour with the team to ensure best practices are upheld.
  • Engage with Parents: Build strong home/school relationships, monitor Pastoral Support Plans (PSPs), attend PSP meetings, and support class teams with target setting and reviews.
  • Classroom Collaboration: Model high standards of practice within classrooms and support teachers in planning interventions using the Boxall Profile.
  • Support Pupils with Medical Needs: Lead support for pupils with medical needs, including reviewing healthcare plans and chairing the medical council.
  • Unstructured Time Support: Promote positive SEMH skills during less structured times (e.g., playtimes) and mediate peer conflict when necessary.
  • Oversee Interventions: Ensure communication with parents, completion of key documentation, and scheduling of up-to-date handovers for interventions.
  • HLTA Duties: Cover whole classes as a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) 2-3 days per week.
  • Attend Pastoral Meetings: Collaborate with the Pastoral Lead and team to address key pastoral concerns.

Requirements

  • Experience working in an SEMH or pastoral-focused educational setting.
  • Proven ability to manage and lead interventions to support student well-being and behaviour.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with pupils, parents, and staff.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working within a team.
  • The ability to model best practices and high standards within classrooms.
  • Knowledge of the Boxall Profile and experience planning interventions is desirable.
  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience covering lessons.
  • A commitment to promoting positive SEMH skills and fostering inclusive learning environments.
