Fusion People seeks a Lead Design Engineer (Signalling) for a Birmingham-based contract role. The assignment runs initially until 26 February 2027 with potential extensions, and pays £500–£550 per day outside IR35.

The role requires an engineering degree or equivalent and IRSE Signalling Principles Designer and Signalling Design Verifier licences, plus strong design and communication skills across signalling systems and related standards.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree or equivalent requirement.
• IRSE Signalling Principles Designer and Signalling Design Verifier Licence mandatory.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Experience in design and implementation of Signalling Systems Engineering.

Responsabilités

• Undertake design production/checking of the signalling detail design as per relevant standards and Signalling Design Specifications.
• Perform complex railway signal design tasks to relevant standards, industry codes and practices.
• Interact with key internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimum outcome.
• Provide functional support and guidance to junior Design staff for all aspects of Signalling Design.
• Assist in the risk assessment of planned and completed designs.
