Job summary

Team RJN is seeking an experienced No.1 Race Technician to join the McLaren GT3 programme, working in the workshop and at race and test events. You will lead a small mechanical crew, ensure reliability, and prepare race cars to exacting standards.

The role involves workshop prep, travel to events, and time away during races. Applicants should have a full UK driving licence and be able to travel internationally. Contractors and permanent applicants are welcome.

Qualifications

• Must have proven No.1 mechanic experience or equivalent responsibility for a race car.
• Strong GT3/GT4 or prototype background with both workshop and trackside exposure.
• Ability to read technical docs and use precision measurement tools.
• Experience leading a small mechanical crew and coordinating with engineers.

Responsibilities

• Lead car preparation, rebuilds and servicing between events, planning work against the schedule.
• Assign tasks to No.2 and supporting technicians; monitor completion and quality.
• Set up and verify car geometry, ride heights and corner weights per Race Engineer’s instructions.
• Diagnose mechanical issues and coordinate repairs; communicate faults clearly.
• Maintain build records and service schedules accurately.
• Oversee pre-session checks and post-session inspections; flag concerns early.
• Participate in pit-stop practice and race pit stops as assigned.
• Coordinate spare and tool prep, assist with loading and garage setup.
