Job summary

Catering is seeking a Lead Quantity Surveyor to join a profitable Tier 1 Main Contractor operating across Hertfordshire. You will lead the commercial team on projects valued at £30m-£60m, from pre-construction through to completion, with a mix of office and site-based work and occasional home working.

The role demands a minimum of 10 years+ QS experience, strong negotiation skills, and deep knowledge of JCT contracts.

Qualifications

Minimum 10 years+ experience as a Quantity Surveyor for a Main Contractor.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and MS Project.
Comprehensive knowledge of JCT contracts and procurement processes.

Responsibilities

Supply Chain Procurement: lead end-to-end procurement of work packages and establish supply chain relationships for on-time delivery.
Cost Planning: manage budget from design stages, maintain real-time position reports and profit projections.
Value Engineering: identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality.
Risk Management: quantify risks and assist in implementing new controls and change processes.
Design Liaison: coordinate with design team and manage subcontractor design fees/liabilities; 2nd-Stage negotiation.
Leadership & Team Management: provide commercial leadership and recruit to grow the team.
Managing daily commercial functions: measurements, valuations, payments, sub-contract orders, and final accounts.
